MacDougall, from Bedeque, P.E.I., built the men’s hockey program into a national powerhouse over 24 years as head coach. He officially retired from UNB on May 14.
Several media reports have linked MacDougall to the head-coaching position with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League . The Wildcats called a news conference for May 15.The Reds completed a perfect 2023-24 season, going 43-0 , in exhibition, regular-season, Atlantic University Sport playoffs and U Sports national tournament play.
The Reds have won back-to-back Canadian titles and competed in 17 national championships, including nine in a row under MacDougall’s leadership.
