Canada's Paul Flemming rink advanced to the gold medal game at the World Senior Men's Curling Championship on Friday evening in Ostersund, Sweden.

Flemming's Halifax Curling Club team of third Peter Burgess, second Martin Gavin, lead Kris Granchelli and alternate Kevin Ouelette scored three in an extra end to top Sweden's Mats Wranaa 9-6 in the semifinal. Flemming scored a pair in the sixth end and added a steal of one in the seventh for a 6-4 lead, but Wranaa replied with a deuce in the eighth to force the extra end.Wanderer by name, by nature: Christian Volesky made many stops in pro soccer career before arriving in HalifaxEarlier Friday, Flemming defeated Norway's Flemming Davanger 7-2 to advance to the semifinals.
