With the deadline past, we’re left to finish out the season with what remains of the roster. On offence that actually promises to be pretty interesting. We’ll get to continue our looks at a few guys and hopefully get glimpses of a few new ones: Spencer Horwitz: he’s been a one man silver lining to this season. Even with a bit of a slump in July, he’s hitting 27% better than league average.
The 24 year old has nothing more to prove in AAA, but has gotten the fewest reps out of this group because IKF and then Clement had nailed down his natural position at third base, and for all his struggles the first three months George Springer has stayed uncharacteristically healthy and played Barger’s logical fall back of right field almost every day. Thus far he’s also been a mess at the plate, swinging too infrequently at strikes and way too frequently at balls.
