Police say the vehicle was attempting to cross the tracks at a marked crossing near 179 Street near the Golden Ears Connector in the Port Kells area.
According to Surrey RCMP, the vehicle was hit by a freight train just before 10 a.m. on Monday.It is unknown at this time what caused the vehicle to stop on the tracks.
The Surrey RCMP’s criminal collision investigators are now on scene and will look into the moments leading up to the collision. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area while investigators gather evidence and the wreckage is removed from the tracks. Anyone with information about the collision or who may have dashboard camera footage of the collision is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
