The Recording Academy has promoted Lourdes Lopez Patton to vp communications. She will report directly to president and CEO Neil Portnow and his forthcoming replacement Deborah Dugan, who is scheduled to assume the post Aug. 1.
“Lourdes has worked tirelessly over the course of her 17-year Recording Academy career to share our story with a global audience and strengthen our company brand,” said Portnow in a statement. “She is a proven leader who has demonstrated unbridled passion, creativity, and professionalism; all while possessing an impressive growth mindset. Having worked with Lourdes for many years, I am delighted to have her join our senior management team.
In her new role, Lopez Patton will oversee all aspects of the Recording Academy’s internal and external communications, including media and public relations, corporate communications and reputation management. She will additionally collaborate with production partners, sponsors, talent teams, music labels and media while continuing to oversee PR efforts for Grammy Week events.
