Seven B.C. authors have been named to the longlist for the 2022 CBC Short Story Prize.
Vancouver’s A.W. Hopkins and Anna Ling Kaye ; Brody Patterson and Jack Emberly , both of Maple Ridge; Douglas Reid of Abbotsford; Kathleen Crandall of Nanaimo; and former Vancouverite Lewis DeSoto were among the 36 authors named to the longlist for the award.Article content
Selected from a roster of 2,300 English-language submissions, the longlist selections were made by “a team of writers and editors from across Canada,” according to the . A jury made up of three notable writers — Omar El Akkad, Casey Plett and David Bergen — will select the shortlist and winner.was also announced on Wednesday.
The shortlist for the prize will be announced on April 21 with the winner set to be announced on April 28. The winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and will have the opportunity to attend a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, according to the announcement. The work will also be published on CBC Books.
