The Sharks have $7.604 million in available cap space after a flurry of signings on Saturday.
The San Jose Sharks have been busy on Saturday, signing forward Fabian Zetterlund to a two-year deal worth $1.45 million.
The 23-year-old was part of the deal that sent Timo Meier to the New Jersey Devils ahead of the trade deadline. He struggled with the Devils with just three assists in 20 games, but he had a solid 20 points in 45 games with the Devils and eight points in 14 games a year ago. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound winger is a good finisher and someone that the Sharks will hope to see more out of next year. At $1.45 million, he’s a good value depth scoring piece that can move up in the lineup if needed.
The Sharks also signed Scott Sabourin to a two-year deal worth $775,000. The 30-year-old enforcer has bounced up between the NHL and AHL, sitting at 60 goals, 129 points and 920 penalty minutes in the AHL over his career. He’s one of a small group of enforcers that still manage to get work year after year, and ever has 43 games of NHL experience with Ottawa and Toronto over the past three seasons.
The Sharks have signed six players total today, including goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood, forwards Givani Smith and Ryan Carpenter, and defenseman Kyle Burroughs. The Sharks have $7.604 million in available cap space as of now.
