MOUNT STEWART, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman is calling on Air Canada to improve its treatment of people with disabilities after her son had a bad experience with the airline last month.
In an email statement to SaltWire, an Air Canada spokesperson said the airline is aware of the incident. Darlene called the medical desk and was told they would be rebooked on the next morning's flight, still with extra legroom seats. When Kyle Jay and his caregiver arrived in Las Vegas, they were informed by an Air Canada staff person that his wheelchair was lost. The wheelchair was built with certain specifications for him. Without it, he couldn't move around Las Vegas easily or enjoy the trip. - Thinh Nguyen/SaltWire
Darlene said she overheard from the phone call that a person, whom the caregiver said was an Air Canada staff member, told the caregiver to stop cursing or else they would bring security.
