SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 57-year-old Carleton, P.E.I., man has died after falling out of a dory in Summerside Harbour on the evening of Saturday, May 25.
East Prince RCMP says members responded to a call of a boating incident at approximately 9:45 p.m. and arrived at Holman Wharf in Summerside where two men in an oyster dory came ashore.Police believe the dory collided with a channel marker in the harbour, causing one of the men to be ejected from the boat. The second man attempted to rescue him and was able to bring him to shore.
Island EMS, Summerside Police and Canadian Coast Guard officials were also on scene. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was alerted but its support was not required, RCMP say. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death and the investigation into this incident is still on going.
