SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — HMCS Queen Charlotte members are hitting the streets of Summerside for a parade commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic on Sunday, May 5.
During the campaign, the Navy suffered 2,210 deaths and lost 33 vessels, while Canada’s Merchant Navy lost over 70 ships and 1,700 lives and the Royal Canadian Air Force lost 900 aircrew.HMCS Queen Charlotte divers to conduct exercises near Borden-Carleton and Summerside April 29 and April 30Per capita, P.E.I. had the highest enlistment rate in the army, navy and air force during the war.
