Three of them are Sault Ste. Marie residents

Four drivers have been charged with impaired driving this month by the OPP’s Sault Ste. Marie detachment. The first driver was charged as a result of a RIDE checkpoint that was set up on Highway 556 near Searchmont just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 12.

Officers believed the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and say he was also prohibited from driving a vehicle.In addition, the accused's vehicle was impounded for 45 days. Then at 5:49 p.m. on Oct. 14, officers spotted a vehicle driving slower than the flow of traffic in the passing lane on Second Line West.On Oct. 26, officers patrolling Fourth Line West after 4:30 p.m. saw a speeding vehicle. When they pulled the driver over, police suspected he was impaired by alcohol.Then at 4:36 p.m. on Oct. 27, someone called police to report a vehicle swerving in and out of its lane on Highway 17 south of Wawa.
