As a result, your local small businesses are entering this holiday season with their lowest confidence levels in recorded history, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business . Sadly, the very hubs through which much of our holiday cheer is traditionally created and spread in the gift-giving season are now the ones hurting the most.First, the simple solution is to shop local. Sixty-four per cent of the money you spend at a small business remains circulating in your local economy, compared to 14 per cent at a big-box shop. This boosts your neighbourhood’s economic ecosystem, from shop-owners to their suppliers, to your city’s tourism and overall curb-appeal.
