My weekend didn’t quite go as planned. I had the MS Bike Ride this week, but we had a biblical rainstorm on Saturday. I haven’t seen rain like that here in years. So instead of riding on Saturday, we drove out to where the ride was to end and stayed overnight.
Sunday, we rode back, a nice, if cold, ride. They took a different, hillier route than before, which was more challenging. I signed up for next year. The big Blue Jays’ news is that Max Scherzer will make Wednesday’s start. This makes our starters: Tuesday and Wednesday could tax the bullpen, but we have the off-day today, so hopefully we’ll get through. The cynic in me wants to put up a post asking which inning Scherzer comes out of the game with an injury, but let’s pretend to be optimistic. If he could start every fifth day for the rest of the season, it would help our chances of making the playoffs. It could happen. The question is: Who will leave to make room for Scherzer? I guess that Spencer Turnbull will be DFAed. But since I’m enjoying Lauer, they will likely send him out instead. Yeah, I know, it’s going to be Paxton Schultz, because he’s really useful in the pen. Jordan Baker tried to get us a win yesterday: Ben Nicholson-Smith wrote about the potential trade market for the Blue Jays. What do they need? Pretty much one of everything: What will they get? Likely another middle infielder who’ll end up playing outfield. You can never have enough of those. The Score has an interview with Addison Barger. My favourite part is when he talks about his guitars and his ukulele: A 25-year-old who knows who Jim Croce is? He’s quickly moving up the ranks of my favourite players. Here’s an off-day question for you: who is your favourite Blue Jays player to watch?
