La Vieille Maison in Meteghan, Digby County. FACEBOOKMETEGHAN, DIGBY COUNTY, NS – People are being reminded and encouraged to vote for La Vieille Maison in Meteghan, Digby County – the only Nova Scotia landmark competing in the national ‘Canada’s Next Great Save’ competition.

The winner of the competition – put on by the National Trust for Canada – receives a $50,000 prize to complete upgrades and renovations.Voting started on Jan. 20 and people can vote daily until Feb. 22.Meteghan’s La Vieille Maison, is the competition’s only finalist from this province and from a francophone community. It has held a strong second-place status since the start of voting.

La Vieille Maison has received support from groups and associations from Nova Scotia, across Canada and beyond. “La Vieille Maison volunteers appreciate all the support they have received and, with two weeks remaining in the competition, encourage all Nova Scotians and friends of Acadian culture and heritage sites to vote,” reads a media release, noting there is still lots of time to come up with the votes needed to regain first place and win the prize.Heritage enthusiasts can follow the Next Great Save competition using #NextGreatSave on the National Trust’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
