A Yarmouth County man entered a guilty plea to the charge of accessory after the fact to murder in the September 2020 death of 26-year-old Colton Cook. It was an emotional day for the Cook family.

Photographs and memories are all Colton Cook's family has left of him. He was killed in September 2020 at the age of 26. TINA COMEAU PHOTOYARMOUTH, NS – A Yarmouth County man has pleaded guilty to the charge of accessory after the fact to murder in the September 2020 death of 26-year-old Colton Cook.

Two men stand accused of killing Cook on or about Sept. 26, 2020. They are Robert Charles Rogers and Wayne Richard Crawford, both of Yarmouth County. The two men are charged with second-degree murder and interfering with human remains.Given the accessory charge before the court, Siscoe was asked by Justice Muise if he had assisted the other accused men by helping them to escape following the crime they are accused of. Siscoe ran his hand over his face and responded, yes.

Since ahead of any trial there are publication bans in place – from previous court sessions – regarding the evidence before the court, at this time Saltwire is not reporting on the specific details given in Supreme Court on July 18 when Siscoe’s guilty plea was entered as those details also relate to the other accused. The defence said that Siscoe is of indigenous descent and that a sentencing circle is being requested. The Crown offered no position on the request.

“I’ve never seen it used in this context before,” Morrison said about a sentencing circle, regarding the charge before the court. He said sentencing circles include an invitation to the victim of the crime to participate. The two families did not know each other before Colton’s death and Zack’s disappearance; however, they have since grown close and always express support for one another.
