Halifax Regional Police release Dartmouth suspect’s name and photo | SaltWire #news #novascotiaThe movie 'The King Tide' is now showing in a theatre in St John's. It was filmed in Keels, Bonavista Bay, in 2022. Keels is about a 30-minute drive from Bonavista. Why Keels was chosen as the site for the film, I don't know. However, it has its own importance.
Settlers came from Devon, Dorset, Pool and Ireland. In that year, there were two schools and one church in the community. At one time it was one of the few places in Newfoundland with a hotel. In 2020, the Bonavista Peninsula was designated by UNESCO as an historical site for its rock formations and fossils finds – some fossils estimated to be 560 million years old. Keels is a fine example of this, and has gained attention for the"Devil's Footprints."
One of the buildings in 'The King Tide' is the schoolhouse. It was constructed in 1936 following a fire in 1934, which destroyed 22 houses and left 100 homeless.
