Environment Canada released a coastal flooding weather statement for the west coast of Vancouver Island from Estevan Point to Clo-oose, including Pacific Rim National Park Saturday.

, coastal flooding may occur due to a combination of seasonal high tides, storm surge, strong southeasterly winds and large waves near the outer west coast.

“Storm surge, strong southeasterly waves and pounding waves and surf will produce higher than normal water levels along the coast, especially near high tide. Water levels could reach 30 to 40 cm above the normal highest tide,” states Environment Canada. The high waves and winds may push water and debris into low-lying areas and parking lots, especially areas already prone to impacts during previous storm events.
