A high streamflow advisory is in effect for the South Coast and western parts of Vancouver Island due to a storm system starting Friday.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre issued the advisory on Friday afternoon, particularly for the South Coast areas including the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound, North Shore Mountains, Lower Mainland, and Fraser Valley, and for Western Vancouver Island, including areas around Bamfield, Ucluelet, Tofino, Tahsis, Zeballos, and other coastal communities.
In addition to Friday, two heavy precipitation events are contributing to the multi-day storm activity, with the first Sunday to Monday and the second event from Tuesday to Wednesday.“For the week as a whole, cumulative precipitation will likely be substantial,” says the centre. Heavy precipitation is expected in the form of rain and snow is expected due to cooler temperatures accompanying the storms.
