Vancouver won their lone regular season meeting with the Raiders, coming away with a 3-1 win at the LEC on Jan. 24.
The Vancouver Giants are going to the WHL championship series against the one team that finished ahead of them in the regular season.
Prince Albert was tops amongst the circuit’s 22 teams in the regular season. Vancouver was second, 11 points back. Prince Albert is coached by Marc Habscheid, who is a former bench boss of the Kelowna Rockets, Chilliwack Bruins and Victoria Royals. They feature goalie Ian Scott and forward Brett Leason, who were both members of Team Canada at the world juniors.
The Giants haven’t been to the WHL final since losing in seven games to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2006-07 championship. They were hosting the Memorial Cup that season and went on to defeat the Tigers in the national title tilt.
