Is help on the way for the Ottawa Senators?
That’s the burning question as the Senators prepare for their home opener Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Philadelphia Flyers in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Canadian Tire Centre.Coming home after a 5-3 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes in the season opener Wednesday, the Senators had Thursday off to prepare for back-to-back games that will include a visit by the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday at 7 p.m.

Smith and the club’s medical staff have been down this road before with Norris throughout camp and his surgically repaired shoulder, everybody will proceed with caution before giving an update.Skating on the wing on the club’s fourth line, Norris, 24, has been a full participant the last couple of days. Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo was way too deep in his net on the fourth goal by defenceman Brady Kjei after the Senators had battled back to tie it up 3-3, while the pairing of veteran blueliners Jakob Chychrun and Thomas Chabot struggled big time.You can’t get too caught up in a loss to a team considered to be a contender for the East title this year.
