Second chances don't come along very often in life. That's why Cyril Leeder didn't want to pass up on this one.
Activate your Online Access NowA lot of the names have changed since Leeder, 64, last occupied the same office at the rink he returned to Monday in his first full day on the job, but everything old is new again and he’s buoyed to be back to try to help this franchise make the next step in its return to respectability.
“What better way to have a final go around than with the job you always loved and had a passion for?” No promises were made when Andlauer first approached Leeder last November to help out in a bid for the Senators. He wanted to lend a hand to a person he had spent a lot of time with in NHL board of governors’ meetings over the years while the former represented the Montreal Canadiens.
“I said the same thing, ‘I love what I’m doing at Myers. I’m happy to help you and if we still like each other at the end of this process, we can have a discussion if you’re up for it.’ When he was declared the successful bidder in June that’s when we started having more serious discussions.”
