After purchasing 61 hectares of trees to save part of the Puntledge Forest near Courtenay the CV Land Trust needs $150,000 to buy the rest.
A Comox Valley organization is hoping to raise an additional $150,000 to purchase 37 hectares of trees before they are logged.
The Comox Valley Land Trust set out to save the forest after Manulife announced plans to log the area in 2020. Now the finish line is in sight, and future generations could have an old growth forest in their own back yard. Several members of the local community were given a tour of the forest on Friday, including David Routledge. He’s lived in the Comox Valley for 40 years.
