Joseph Buckner attempts to score against the defense of Cinco Ranch's Joshua Lennon in first-half action. Lennon led all scorers with 16 points for the 7-1 Cougars.SOUTH HOUSTON - When South Houston drained 50 percent of their shot attempts to start their boys basketball game against non-district foe Cinco Ranch Wednesday afternoon, it had promise written all over it.

"Josh Lennon is a two-year letterman. He's a First Team all-district player from last year. He got into some foul trouble and we had to sit him down a little. When the lights are bright, he performs and excels at a very high level. We're the best version of Cinco Ranch when Josh Lennon is on the floor," Cinco Ranch head coach Neil King said.

"A couple of things didn't go our way but I'm proud of our guys for finding a way to be successful. I just want to wish Coach Watson and the Trojans good luck the rest of the year," King said. South Houston started out hitting 4-of-8 from the floor, but the game ended with the Trojans only sinking nine more shots in finishing 13-of-40 for 33 percent. Tack on 20 turnovers and it's no surprise that South Houston's attack sputtered the entire contest. Cinco Ranch only turned the ball over 11 times. From the floor, the Cougars were 14-of-36 for 39 percent.
