It’s a fascinating dynamic: These are messages that can resonate just as easily on the left as on the right. Urban progressives are unlikely to vote Conservative no matter how compelling the party’s housing policy.
And some of these people will actually look you in the eye and tell you there’s no problem with housing supply! Douglas Porter, chief economist at BMO Capital Markets, this week dismissed the idea of a housing supply crisis as a “myth” because we have roughly the same number of homes per capita as the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia.
