According to the 24NewsHD TV Channel report on Wednesday, speaking in an interview with a private TV channel, Ambassador Sheikh expressed concern over India's persistent display of expansionist and hegemonic ambitions under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pakistan's envoy to the US emphasised that such Indian posturing threatens peace and security across South Asia. “The issue of Kashmir has once again become central to regional dynamics,” said the ambassador. “It remains the greatest obstacle to the progress of the underdeveloped populations of South Asia. The only viable path forward is through dialogue, and Pakistan is ready to engage.” Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the consistent international attention on the Kashmir conflict, noting that even the United Nations Secretary-General has played a role in maintaining the ceasefire between Pakistan and India in the past. He reiterated that responsible nations must prioritise peace over provocation. He further pointed out that Indian leadership continues to express aggressive and expansionist designs openly, urging the global community, including US leadership, to take note of the dangerous implications. In this context, a high-level Pakistani delegation is currently engaged in meetings with US officials, policymakers, and think tanks to spotlight the Kashmir issue and advocate for diplomatic resolution.
