PM Shehbaz says Pakistan has avenged 1971 war, warns India against escalation
SIALKOT Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is ready for both peace and war, warning, “If India attacks again, we will give a response that you would never have thought of.” The prime minister stated these remarks during an address to the troops at Pasrur Cantonment, Sialkot.
He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal during the visit. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu were also present on the occasion. “Books will be written on the war that Pakistan has fought and won. I salute the leadership and soldiers of the three armed forces. The Pakistan Army has surprised the enemies of Pakistan. We have avenged the 1971 war,” he said. “Pakistan is ready for both peace and war. If it attacks again, we will give a response that you would never have thought of. I ask Modi to talk about moving forward instead of igniting fire. Pakistan wants peace in the region. Do not consider this desire as weakness,” he added. “Who trained the Mukti Bahini in 1971? The world knows, Mr Modi, you are behind the BLA and TTP. Keep your statements to yourself. Never even think about suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. Water is our red line. We cannot give up on it. If you try to stop water, we make it clear that water and blood cannot go together,” he declared. “India's arrogance, after the acquisition of Rafales, has been reduced to dust. You thought that you were the policeman of this area. Now this false impression has ended. Modi, we have shown patience. Take advantage of this, and do not deceive your nation further,” he said.
