Acting on a tip-off, the team raided a location within the jurisdiction of Kahna Police Station hoping to arrest the wanted suspect. However, upon the arrival of the police party, Sher and his accomplices opened fire on the officers. According to the spokesperson, Sher was killed during the exchange of gunfire by bullets fired by his own accomplices. The suspect was wanted in over 78 serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, armed encounters with police, robbery, shop robbery, and vehicle snatching. In 2021, the suspect killed a citizen during a robbery in the area of Hair Police Station after the victim resisted. In 2023, he shot and killed a shopkeeper during a robbery in Nawab Town when the shop owner resisted. The other accomplices of the deceased suspect fled the scene while firing at the police and a search operation is underway to arrest the remaining wanted suspects, the CCD spokesperson confirmed. Meanwhile, according to police reports, a suspect in custody of CCD Sargodha was fired upon by unknown assailants near Chariyala area of Kharian, reported 24NewsHD TV on Thursday. The suspect, Zahid Imran from Mandi Bahauddin's Malikwal area, was killed in the firing. During interrogation, the suspect had revealed that wanted criminals were hiding in Chariyala. The suspect had been brought to identify the hideout of the wanted criminals. The attackers fled the scene after the shooting. A case has been registered at Thana Kakarali.
