County Rd 2 between Brighton and Colborne closed401 is closed both ways from Brighton to Grafton9 p.m. FRIDAY: Prince Edward County OPP have closed all roads in the County due to poor visibility in blinding blowing snow. Many vehicles have become stuck.The mild, wet morning on Friday quickly turned to cold, blowing snow and whiteouts Friday afternoon with a Winter Storm Warning issued for most of the region and a blizzard warning in Prince Edward County.
The storm is expected to continue through Saturday with some significant snowfall and as much as 30 cm of snow squall activity possible in the County where the storm is expected to hit hardest. Peak winds of 97 km/hr winds were recorded at CFB Trenton earlier Friday afternoon but meteorologist Kevin Williams believes those winds could blow even stronger overnight.
Friday resulted in several accidents with Highway 401 in the Brighton and Cramahe areas being particularly treacherous with collisions forcing closures at least twice through the afternoon.
