Honor Aims to Decrease Security Concerns Attributed to Parent Company's Ban in Canada

Honor, the former sub-brand of Huawei, is planning to meet with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to discuss fair market entry and regulatory clarity after being sold to majority-owner Shenzhen Zhixin. Honor aims to lessen security concerns that led to Huawei's Canadian ban and show that it operates with the highest integrity.

Honor aims to decrease security concerns that led to its parent company's ban in Canada. Executives are planning to meet with staff from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) in mid-June. Honor was founded in 2013 and produces a range of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other wearable devices. It operates in 100 markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Honor runs its own user interface, MagicOS, and has full access to the Google Play store and Google Mobile Services. The company has a responsibility to operate with the highest integrity. When asked if Beijing could require Honor to hand over customer data, Mr. Palmer said that companies in many jurisdictions face requests by governments for access to different things. Honor's devices need to meet the government-set standards to connect to Canadian telecom networks. Honor has not yet set a timeline for a Canadian rollout
