President Zelensky repeats call for more air-defence weapons, and to allow Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia
At least 47 people were killed as a pair of Russia n missiles slammed into a building in the central Ukrainian city of Poltava on Tuesday, marking one of the deadliest incidents in more than two-and-a-half years of war.
Mr. Zelensky said he had ordered “a full and prompt investigation into all of the circumstances of what happened.” The Kyiv Independent reported that the building that was partially destroyed was Poltava’s Military Institute of Telecommunication and Information Technologies. In Soviet times the facility was called the Higher Military Command School of Communications and would have been a site well-known to the Russian military.’s Ministry of Defence called Tuesday’s strike “a barbaric attack on one of the city’s educational institutions” and warned against “speculation” on the incident.
