The provincial government announced on March 17 further measures to help get family and friends fleeing the war in Ukraine to safety in Canada, including sending a team to Poland. In April, the federal government gave its approval for the massive and controversial Bay du Nord offshore oil project off Newfoundland’s east coast, to the dismay of environmental groups.In April, the provincial government officially launched a Commission of Inquiry into the treatment of Innu children and families in the province’s child protection system.
