Company proud of recent award accolade it received, as well

Novatec Braids president Kevin Muise and company production manager Steven Nickerson sit inside the Yarmouth manufacturing plant with the 2023 Boating Industry Canada Employer of Choice award the Yarmouth-based company recently received. - TINA COMEAUYARMOUTH, NS — Everywhere you look, something is happening.

There are yacht ropes, dinghy braids, docklines, mooring pendants, hollow braids, stretch core ropes, utility ropes and water rescue tow lines. Fisheries, marine, commercial, military, diving, power utility, recreation, pleasure crafts and more – even golf courses – are amongst the applications of the company’s products.

A test-bed determines how much weight the trademarked NOVABRAID ropes can handle and at what level they would break. It’s an involved process but not always a repetitive one. The majority of Novatec Braids’ product pass on the first test.Sometimes it's even too good. The national award program recognizes and promotes the best employers in the Canadian boating industry, and in two categories: Dealers & Marinas; and Marine Business – Manufacturers and Suppliers, Service Providers, Retailers, & Distributors.“With the ongoing challenges of managing through the pandemic, these companies have continued to show resiliency and demonstrate how important their people are to the success of the business,” Jeff Doran, president of CCEOC Inc.

Novatec Braids has participated in the awards program for three consecutive years. Aside from its products, some of the newest and significant initiatives of the business include:• A new wage system, the Operator Rate program, which pays employees based on their highest skill set and tenure.• An annual appraisal system, with a bi-annual touch point, which rewards employees for performance in their jobs.
