Three women filed a lawsuit against Talladega College Thursday, citing unpaid overtime, sexual harassment and retaliation from supervisors after complaining.

Aug. 26, 2022, 2:09 p.m.

Williams, who was suspended without pay on July 27, said she worked 522 hours of unpaid overtime and is owed $10,623.42 in wages alone. Wyckoff resigned July 29, saying she worked 396 hours of unpaid overtime and is owed $8,268.84. Gray still works at the school, but said she worked 186 hours without overtime pay and is owed $4,266.

Williams, Wyckoff and Gray also said that they were often required to work as “hostesses” at parties social events where alcohol was being served, in violation of a policy prohibiting alcohol consumption for Talladega College employees during work hours or on the premises without medical authorization.

At another party, during which Hawkins requested Williams serve food and drinks, the guests were leaving as she arrived. She was instructed to go to a location off of the kitchen, where Hawkins entered, leaving the two of them alone. As Williams left she told her supervisor, Patricia Jones, about the interaction, but reported that Jones appeared “inebriated and uninterested,” according to the lawsuit.
