A woman was allegedly tased and stabbed by a man who had been camping in the Moab area on Saturday, Moab police said.

MOAB — A woman was allegedly tased and stabbed by a man who had been camping in the area on Saturday, according to Chief Jared Garcia of the Moab police department. The police say it was an attempted homicide.

The two Moab residents told the person that camping and campfires are illegal within Moab city limits, police said, which police confirm is against the city ordinance. The man and woman then continued walking their dogs. The male camper then used a Taser on the woman, Garcia said. The woman, 68, fell to the ground. The male camper "then reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a fixed blade knife," the police said.

Moab police lauded the man's actions, saying the woman "would not have survived the attack if her friend hadn't reacted so quickly and heroically."
