Willis residents may be without power for much of Saturday, as city officials said Entergy Texas Inc. has an outage planned for 12 hours.
"It may be shorter, but plan for 12 hours," said City Manager Sheyi I. Ipaye during a meeting on Tuesday.
It was unclear if rotating sections of the city's power grid would be affected by the outage or if all of the city would lose power.Entergy representatives reached out to city officials on Monday about the outage. Entergy Texas Customer Service Manager Latisha Thomas told city officials via email that the planned outage is due to a large"reliability" project involving multiple workers.
"They been postponing this work, but now they are moving forward with it," Ipaye said. Entergy said it needed to move forward with the project before the summer when demand for electricity is high, he said.
