A female is in custody and a police officer has been taken to hospital by ambulance after an alleged stabbing at Atlantic Place in downtown St. John’s Wednesday afternoon.

Half of the food court on the building’s main level remains cordoned off by yellow police tape and guarded by Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers. The RNC has not yet provided a comment but told SaltWire Network a media release would be forthcoming. Sources say a woman stabbed an RNC officer in the arm around 2 p.m., inflicting injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.The woman was handcuffed and escorted into the back of an RNC vehicle parked on Water Street.
Atlantic Place houses corporate offices, a coffee shop and a gym, and is home to provincial court on the fourth floor.
