Wind warning in effect for parts of South Coast, ferries cancelled
Environment Canada has posted a wind warning for parts of the B.C.’s South And Central Coast Saturday, with winds of up to 110 km/hr expected in some areas.
B.C. Ferries was forced to cancel several morning sailings, including Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, Crofton to Salt Spring Island, Comox to Powell River, and Cortes Island to Quadra Island. High winds are expected on much of Vancouver Island, including Greater Victoria, the Sunshine Coast, the Southern Gulf Islands, and the Central Coast.Southeast winds will rise to 70 km/h gusting to 90 km/h for areas near the water as an intense front crosses the South Coast Saturday, the agency says, in the warning.
