With a skeleton crew and the spectre of three one-goal losses still haunting them, the Vancouver Whitecaps were back practising at their UBC training facility on Tuesday afternoon.

“We’re disappointed, we’re not frustrated,” said right back Scott Sutter. “We’re not in a situation of crisis by any means. We’re just disappointed we haven’t gotten the start we wanted … or deserved, really. There’s no real use in complaining about it … We just need to work hard and train every day, and look forward to the next game.”

“It’s one thing when you get hammered by opponents, the other is when you feel you should have already had points. That’s the hard part. Feeling that it’s unfair. But the only solution to that is work — nothing else.” “In La-La land, it would be incredible, because would be here, and he’d be ready to train and then ready for the week before Seattle,” said Dos Santos. “But this is the real world, and the real world is that he’s not here yet. We’re still waiting for the green light on when he’s going to fly.”
