Whitecaps centreback Doneil Henry plays with an edge, while Erik Godoy is cool, calm and collected. They will be tested when the winless Caps play in Houston Saturday.

Doneil Henry stands six feet tall, an imposing 200-pound concrete slab of muscle whose slide tackles and headers have left a trail of crumpled and crushed opponents in his wake during his decade as a professional soccer player.“I like boxing. I love Mike Tyson. I love the mentality of Mike Tyson, the way he set himself up for every fight,” said the Vancouver Whitecaps centreback.

And while he hasn’t completely shed the reputation of the reckless and rash defender he was with Toronto — he averaged around a yellow every three games there, compared to every seven games in Vancouver — he still manages a tackle or two every game that leaves supporters holding their breath, waiting for the referee to reach for his pocket.

— Vancouver Whitecaps FC March 14, 2019While his tackles are jarring, they’re not heart-stopping. His clearances are cooly executed. In one play against Real Salt Lake, he was backtracking through his own penalty area when the cross came in from the right. Caps’ coach Marc Dos Santos has continually preached how he wants a team that’s flexible and able to adapt to circumstances, while maintaining the same principles at the same time. The Dynamo present challenges different from either of the two sides the Caps have faced this year, even if they line up in the same 4-2-3-1 formation favoured by Real Salt Lake.
