Each store-within-a-store will take up 8,000 to 10,000 square feet. Merchandise for sale will include home decor, toys, apparel, baby and pets and the Zellers.ca ecommerce site will also relaunch when stores open. The Zellers Diner on Wheels, a mobile food truck, will be visiting each location, including Kamloops, soon, with a schedule to be released. Based on a poll of Canadians on what classic Zellers Diner fare it should feature, the roving diner will be selling the Big Z Burger, Hot Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Chicken Fingers and Fries and Gravy.Article content
Zellers, a longtime Canadian discount chain, was purchased by Hudson’s Bay Company in 1978, building up a reputation as a discount retail store commonly found in malls. The brand was discontinued in 2013. Zellers was formerly in Sahali Mall. When it closed, Target moved in during its brief, disastrous foray into Canada.
