This year, in the Northern Hemisphere, June 20 will be the longest day of the year. It’s known as the summer solstice.In the northern parts of Canada, such as Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, there will be nearly 20 hours of daylight. In southern parts of the country, including Windsor, Ontario, the day will bring more than 15 hours of daylight.

According to English Heritage, the pillars are in perfect alignment with the position of the sunrise during the summer solstice.
