The Flames won one and lost one in California. They can’t afford to do that again.
It’s true that there were plenty of people wondering if Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings marked the end of the line for the Flames. When you lose 8-2, that tends to happen. The Flames were at their worst against the Kings. They looked slower, were losing puck battles and were just generally getting out-worked.
“Honestly, I think we’ve been playing playoff hockey the last 30 games now,” Flames winger Andrew Mangiapane said. “We knew the situation we’ve been in. We did this kind of to ourselves and it’s time to see what we’re made of, focus one game at a time.” For the sake of argument, let’s assume the Jets maintain the pace they’ve had over their past 10 games for the rest of their season. The Winnipegers have gone 5-4-1 in their last 10, meaning they’ve picked up 11 points.
