Setting Max in motion along with Bloys, there's Kathleen Finch, who as US networks content chief is in charge of the Discovery series that will live on the app, andWBD is making the case for Max as an app that combines the best movies and shows in all categories to satisfy every audience, from a new Harry Potter adaptation to"The Big Bang Theory." The strategy is to appeal to everyone in the family — a key to holding on to subscribers at a time of increased choice and rising churn.
As for existing subscribers, most HBO Max users may seamlessly transition to Max and see no change in price. But Discovery+ users will have to fork over twice the $5 per month that they were previously paying to get the cheapest version of Max, which is $9.99 per month. Heller joined HBO in 2000 from PBS series"P.O.V." and has worked with a range of filmmakers on such notable titles as"The Janes,""The Apollo," and"The Case Against Adnan Syed."Aubrey is responsible for carving out a slate of Max originals that share HBO's DNA but can.
