The Honda Civic stolen in the Halloween-night carjacking at the McDonald’s near Uptown was found near the Swartz Bay ferry terminal
A vehicle stolen in a brazen carjacking on Halloween has been recovered, but the perpetrator remains at large, Saanich police said Monday.
The Honda Civic was found in the 1700-block of Swartz Bay Road near the ferry terminal on Saturday at 6 a.m. by North Saanich/Sidney RCMP.The vehicle was stolen from a McDonald’s drive-through across from Uptown Centre at about 6:45 p.m. on Halloween night. A person dressed all in black and wearing a mask opened the door of the car as it was leaving the drive-through and ordered the driver out, saying he had a weapon.
The carjacker was last seen driving east on Saanich Road. The vehicle’s owner was left shaken but not physically harmed.Authorities are asking anyone with dash-cam video of the area around the McDonald’s at Saanich Road and Oak Street at about 6:45 p.m. on Halloween, or the area around Swartz Bay Road and Wain Road between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on on Saturday to email:
