The five sculptures were paid for by the Chinatown BIA, and each cost more than $2,000. They have all been well received by the community and visitors to Chinatown, according to Sukey. “It’s very disheartening when you create something for people to enjoy and then it just gets destroyed with no consideration of the time, work, effort and expense that was put into it,” said Jana in an email.Article content
“For such a big sculpture, it’s not easy to break it,” she said. “You’re not able to just use your hand to push it and make it fall down.”
