If you thought Vancouver’s real estate prices were downright ridiculous, allow us to direct your attention to New York City, where things have gone completely off the rails: a condo in Manhattan sold earlier this April to hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin for a U.S. record $238 million, enough to raise the average home sale price in the densely-populated borough by $100,000 all on its own.
Sure, the building looks a little old, and that’s because it is, having been built way back in 1960, but you won’t be living on the outside, you’ll be living on the inside, at the top, where everything is state-of-the-flippin’-art. You get two bedrooms and three bathrooms, which may not seem like much for nearly $13 million, but you also get three — three! — outdoor fireplaces, so if you’re not getting along with the family, you can all have separate fires.
