Vancouver police said the victim, a visually impaired 69-year-old man, was crossing the street at Thurlow and Alberni while wearing a bright yellow high-visibility jacket and using a cane when the attack took place on March 31 around 11 a.m.
In the middle of the crosswalk, an unknown assailant walked up to the man and punched him in the stomach before fleeing.“We don’t know if there was a motive for this attack, but it appears the victim had no prior interaction with the suspect before the assault,” said Const. Tania Visintin. “We also know this can be very distressing for the community when incidents like this continue to happen.”While police have identified a possible suspect, investigators are asking witnesses to come forward and share their accounts of what happened.twitter.com/stephanie_ipGet unlimited, ad-lite access to The Vancouver Sun, The Province, National Post and 13 other Canadian news sites for just $14/month or $140/year.
