A solo photographic exhibition of large format black and white silver gelatin several exposures by Dawna Mueller recount the artist’s journey tracing her ancestral roots in Manitoba. A child of the “Sixties Scoop,” the Métis/Anishinaabe child was taken from her birth mother and placed into care of a Ukrainian-Canadian family. Only later in life did Mueller discover this background and began a process of unearthing the truth of her background. The haunting images in this exhibit are both ethereal and meditative, referencing the peeling back of the layers of time and experience imposed over the lives of those who have similar experiences.
