Halifax Regional Police have charged two teens in connection with one of more than two dozen threats made against schools in HRM since April 1.
In each of the instances, including some that happened in the same schools multiple times, messages were left in the school referring to explosives in the building, but none were found.On Thursday, investigators arrested a 15-year-old and 16-year-old in connection with a threat made at J.L. Illsley High School on May 7. They were released and will appear in court at a later date to face charges of uttering threats and mischief.
Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. John MacLeod said police aren’t releasing the gender of the youths, but said both were students at the school.MacLeod said investigations are continuing and more arrests should be coming.The Halifax Regional Centre for Education said at the time that the threats are disruptive to school communities and to learning, and that in addition to any legal consequences, students will face school-based consequences as well.
