Karman Singh Grewal, 26, of Vancouver and Gursimran Sahota, 21, of Surrey have been charged with three counts of robbery.
According to the Surrey RCMP, Grewal is also charged with failing to stop for a peace officer, dangerous driving and obstruction of a peace officer. Sahota is additionally charged with committing an indictable offence with face covered and assault by threatening with a weapon.
Surrey RCMP Cpl Elenore Sturko said all three incidents occurred on Feb. 7, the first being at around 5:15 p.m. at a pharmacy in Delta in the 6900 block of Scott Road.Sturko said two men entered the Surrey store with their faces covered, brandished a knife and demanded money and drugs. Nobody was hurt in the robbery. Fifteen minutes later, Mounties were called to another drugstore robbery eight blocks away.
Sturko said multiple police officers from the Surrey RCMP, Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team and Integrated Police Dog Services poured into the area and located and attempted to stop a suspect vehicle. The driver of that vehicle took off, causing a minor collision with a police vehicle. The suspect driver and passenger was arrested shortly after. Nobody was injured in the collision or during the arrest.
“The Surrey RCMP robbery section took conduct of the occurrences in Surrey and worked closely with Delta police to advance the investigations collaboratively, which resulted in multiple criminal charges against two men,” she said.
